Proclamation of 1763

Oct 7, 1763

Issued by King George III and it forbade colonists settlement past the Appa;achian Mountains.

Sugar Act

Apr 5, 1764

Parliament passed the Sugar Act which put a tax on sugar, molasses, and rum. This upset colonists because it put a taxes on everyday items.

Stamp Act

Mar 22, 1765

The Act was imposed on American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used.

Declaratory Act

Mar 18, 1766

This act was set in place when the Stamp Act was replead. It set new laws upon the colonists, which upset them.

Townshend Acts

Jun 15, 1767

The Townshend Acts put a tax on the imports of glass, lea, paints, paper, and tea. The colonists protested against theses taxes.

Boston Massacre

Mar 5, 1770

The Boston Massacre was a street fight that between a patriot mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a group of British soldiers. The colonists were upset about this event because several colonists were killed.

Tea Act

The Tea Ac was the final straw for the for the colonist and was the catalyst for the Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by thr Sons of Liberty in Boston, This upset the British government and was a cause for the American Revolution.

Intolerable Acts

Mar 24, 1774

The Intolerable (Coerceive) Act was passed as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. This angered the colonists because it basically put a tax on everything.

The Declaration of Independence

The Declaration of Indepence was the last even that led to the American Revolutipn. It was the colonies formal declaration of revolution from England.
