    The French and Indian War

Image source The French and Indian War was the part of the Seven Years War fought in colonial America. This was between the French allied with the Native Americans, and Britain with their native allies.
    Rating-10/10
This was what caused the huge debt in Britain that induced the taxes on colonists, which eventually led to independence.
  • Proclamation Line of 1763

    Proclamation Line of 1763
Image source The Proclamation Line of 1763 kept the colonists from going into Native American land so there would be no fighting.
    Rating-2/10
In my opinion this was not a very important event because the colonists still crossed the border line.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
Image source The British colonists were directly taxed on paper goods so that the English could pay for the cost of war. The colonists resisted paying because they felt it was a violation of their rights. The act was repealed the following year.
    Rating-2/10
There were many acts made and repealed in this period so this was not very major.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
Image sourceIn a mob of British soldiers, 5 were shot and killed and 6 were injured. They recieved little to no punishment. The incedent was used as propaganda against the British.
    Rating- 3/10
This was merely a small incedent, but it did make people feel angry at the British soldiers.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
Image sourceA new tax was established for the colonists, this time on tea, to pay for war in England. A new group of protesters called the Sons of Liberty destroyed tea in the Boston Harbor. The Intolerable Acts were made to stop the protesters.
    Rating-5/10
This pushed the British even further and it angered both the English and colonists more. This event was very important towards independence.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Rating-4/10
This led to the Intolerable Acts, which was a very important event.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
Image source The Intolerable Acts were made to punish the colonists protesting the new taxes on tea. There was no trial by jury, they had to house English soldiers, and ships weren't allowed in or out of the Boston Harbor.
    Rating-4/10
This was an unfair punishment, and different because King George III did not repeal it.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
Image source When the Intolerable Acts were made the colonials didn't like having their rights revoked, so they formed the first Continental Congress to address the issue to King George III. He did not repeal the act.
    Rating-2/10
The colonists were unsuccessful, but they had organized and discussed the fact that they are unsatisfied and tried to fix the problem in a civilized way.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
Image source The British soldiers were told that the colonists were hiding weapons in Concord so they went to destroy it, and ran across farmers and colonists. The British soldiers attacked and defeated them in both Concord and Lexington.
    Rating-6/10
The colonists can't trust the British anymore because they wanted to destroy their property.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
The British colonists declared their independence from England.
    Rating-10/10
This is the most important because it meant that there is solid fact of the United States being independent.

  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
Image source After losing the battle in Massachusetts the colonists were not as inclined towards independence. Thomas Paine influences them to want independence.
    Rating-8/10
This was very important because if not for Paine they would have not wanted to go through with gaining their independence.
