    The British made the colonist take care of the British soldier like they are family. They did this by feeding, clothing, and taking care of the soldier's horses. This allowed the British to have more control of the colonists. The American colonists protested causing the British to start the Townshend Acts.

    Townshend Acts
    The British government created four ways to raise revenue in the American colonies. The British suspended New York legislature util complying with the Quartering Act. Along with reconstructing the customs system in Boston. The British also created import duties on tea, lead, paper, paint and glass to raise the revenue to pay the British soldiers in the colonies. Parliament enacted these measures but Parliament gave into the protests of the people. The Townshend Acts were repealed by the British.

    The British taxed tea to solve two problem to help the East India Company and to challange the American colonist with taxation issues. It forced the Americans to adapt to the British lifestyle which ended up leading to the Boston Tea Party. The British enacted the intolerable acts to punish the colonists.
