    Currency Act

    This was Parliaments attempt to stop the colonies from producing their own currency. This was to stop inflation of the currency.
    A lot of people lost funds due to the currency becoming void. this was not a very pleasant thing for the colonists.The colonists ignored this and still kept an illegal form of currency
    Parliament allowed New York to print of their own currency in order to stop disputes.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This was brought to light by Parliament as a way to earn more through taxing foreign goods that were imported to the colonies.
    As this was the first of the tax laws. The colonists through a fit and this is where we hear of "taxation without representation." They also boycotted sellers of the more expensive products.
    The end result was Parliament repealing this act.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Parliament passed a law that required all printed documents to have a certain stamp on it. This was a tax because all profit made from the stamps went to the government.
    The colonists did not like this act because it raised the prices on legal documents. They also felt as though they had no say with what went on in the government. They avoided using the stamp as much as possible.
    Parliament became very frustrated with their behavior. The British government repealed this act after some time.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering act declared that the colonists had to provide housing for British troops that were stationed in America.
    The Colonists were unhappy with this because they did not like a standing army in the colonies and thought as if they were being taxed in secret.They rioted and protested because of this.
    Parliament was mad and continued to send troops over to the colonies.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Parliament taxed the imports to the colonies on many different items which caused prices to rise.
    The colonists were very upset with this and started to riot and rebel. They also boycotted many businesses and caused the Boston Tea Party
    Parliament repealed this act in 1770. Before that though they sent large numbers of soldiers to the colonies to crush the small rebellion that was starting
