Start and End of the Revenue Acts
-
Revenue Act
It made sure all colonists had to pay 6% on sugar and molasses and all other things shipped from Englan.
The colonist found this unfair that they had to pay for this even if they were not buying it, the British that it was a good way to collect more money. -
Stamp Act
All paper documents were required to have a stamp on it, which needed paying for.
This made many colonists upset because they had no way of paying for the stamp and the idea was outrageous. Again the Brtish loved the Idea but did reapealed it after a year as it caused lots of trouble in the colonies. -
Quartering Act
Stated that soldiers were able to live in colonist's houses and the colonists were to provide for them.
This was one of the biggest braking points for the colonist because they found it unfair they had to take care of people who only there to watch other them. The British thought it was great because they didn't have to pay for housing and food. -
Indemnity Act
reduced taxes on the British East India Company when they imported tea into England -
Boston Massacre
was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770, between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers.
This was the final straw I would say for the colonists while the British really didn't understand what happened and didn't feel like they were in the wrong either.
