Proclamation of 1763

This was a proclamation that Britain set to keep people from expanding any more west. The colonists totally ignored this and kept moving West. This made the King worry about the problems this could cause.

Sugar act

Apr 5, 1764

This was an act passed that made people pay taxes on different imported goods like sugar and molasses. This made the colonists upset because it made it very difficult for the merchants to get their goods and slowed down the economy. The colonists protested this and eventually the act was repealed.

Stamp Act

Mar 22, 1765

This was an act that made it so that colonists had to pay for any piece of printed paper and put a revenue stamp on it. This tax caused the colonists to start the no taxation without representation and started the sons of Liberty. Then, in protest to this tax, they did the Boston tea party

Declaratory Act

Mar 18, 1766

This was an act that basically said that the new America was just another part of Britain and that the british government could pass whatever law they wanted. The colonists didn't like this because it went against the very reason they colonized America. They protetest this act and eventually led the British to the Townshend act.

Townshend Act

Jun 29, 1767

This act was a series of four items that started taxing a ton more imported items like glass. This again, slowed down the economy making these things harder to get. This caused the colonists to protest and start to rebel against the British Government. In retaliation to this, the British Army to do the Boston Massacre in 1770.
