    An act that donated public lands to multiple states and territories which provide colleges for the benefit of agriculture and mechanic arts.

    Land Grant University

    The land grant universities are institutions of higher eductaion in the US to use the benefits of the Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890. The Morrill act funded educational institutions by granting federally controlled lands to states so they could then turn and sell to raise money. The Land grant universities in Arkansas are the University of Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff

  • Ellen Richards

    Richards is known as the FACS founder and is also the first lady to graduate from MIT, despite the discrimination because she is a woman. Richards played a vital role for years in the development of Home Economics and FACS, and she paved the way for women to make an impact as well.

    In 1894 The Rumford kitchen Chicago world's fair Ellen Richards and Count Rumford teamed up to exhibit the Rumford kitchen .
  • Caroline Hunt

    Caroline Hunt
    She was the first professor for Home Economics at the University of Wisconsin, but she was forced to resign after only 5 years. People did not approve of her Home Economic class.
  • Smith Lever Act

    This law passed and established a system of cooperative extension services and is connected to the land grant universities, and inform people about current developments in agriculture, home economics 4-H, public policy/ government, economic development and many other subject. This act was a huge step in agriculture improvement.
  • Smith Hughes Act

    Also known as the National vocational education act, the U.S legislation adopted in 1917 which provided federal aid to states for promoting pre-collegiate vocational education in agricultural and industrial trades and home economics, unfortunately the law did not live up to expectations but it was in no way a lost.
  • Vocational Education Acts of 1963

    Enacted by Congress to offer new and expanded vocational education programs to bring job training into harmony with the industrial economic. The act targets unemployed and employed workers of all ages at all levels and for all fields in both rural and urban areas. The act requires each state to plan flexible vocational education programs which are compatible with economy and world of work.
  • Vocational Amendment of 1968

    Extends the work from the Act in 1963 but emphasis changed from the occupations to actual people. National and state advisory councils are required. Also each state must submit an annual and 5 year plan.
  • Vocational Amendment of 1976

    This amendment emphasis was to create the greatest change in vocational education, planning data and information evaluation elimination of sex bias and sex stereotyping, special groups and information and evaluation systems will probably become more sophisticated and will involve and influence a much broader segment of society

    The act was first authorized in 1984 and again in 2006 as the Carl D. Perkins technical education improvement Act.

The Perkins Act proivides almiost $1.3 billion anually to career and technocal education in all 50 states until 2016
