    During the Renaissance, Western European rulers became more powerful. The used their power to unite their countries, creating nations based on a common language and culture. By the 1450's, the Kings of France liberated their country from the English.

    The Printing Press

    The Printing Press
    Works like plays, books, and novels were reproduced in many copies for the first time by the printing press, which was invented by Johannes Gutenburg about 1450. While the chiese had developed a printing process Johannes developed an idea of movable type. He allowed the people to print more so that it encouraged people to learn how to read and write.( the picture shows one of his printing press).

    Renaissance Artists
    1473 wasn't the exact date they both started painting but it was when they started to be known in this era.Leonardo da Vinci painted "baptism of christ" in 1476 and Michelangelo Buonarotti painted one of his most famos pieces of artwork "the sistine ceiling" in 1508. These two artists expressed their feelings in their artwork. Michelangelo Buonarotti expressed human feelings like anger, sorrow, and strenght. Leonardo da Vinci was known for one of the greatest artists during the renaissance era.

    Age of Exploration
    In the mid 1400's Europe begain to reach out of it's bountries, in a great age of exploration and discovery. There was a lot of exploration but one of the most known one was the exploration of Christopher Columbus, with three small ships, the Nina, the Pinta ,and the Santa Marina- westward across the atlantic. Athough he never realized himself, Columbus had landed in a part of the world unknown to Europeans at that time. He called its people "indians" because he belived he had sailed to the east
  • The French Revolution

    The French Revolution
    In the 1780s, revolution erupted in Europe as well, starting in France. The French Revolution started in 1789 and went through several stages. When King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette oppesed the revolution- became the dictator, the absolute leader of France. He declared himself Emperor of the new French Empire in 1804. Eventullay, people almost everywhere in Europe reacted against Napolean and went to war against France. Napolean was defeated in 1815.
