  • LeapFrog

    LeapFrog
LeapFrog was my best friend when I first came to America. I used LeapFrog to help me with the pronunciation and understanding of the language. It allowed you to put the book and press the words with the pen to repeat them or get the definition or spell out the word letter by letter. This is how I started with English.
  • Dr. Seuss

    Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss used to help me during my ELL Reading block period. The rhyming in this book helped me have better pronunciation with larger words. This was a good thing because it engaged me in the reading especially with the pictures. It was good to also find phonic words.
  • Goosebumps + Diary of a Wimpy

Goosebumps + Diary of a Wimpy
Goosebumps was one of my favorite books along with Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I made sure to read all of series that the library had. It helped me bring my reading level higher and get a better understanding of more complex words.
  • AR Testing

    AR Testing
AR testing was definitely one of my favorite activities in school. It was something that I was always looking forward to. It allowed for you to take tests on the books of your choice to see if you were understanding and comprehending what you were reading. It asked you random question throughout the book and you were unable to use your book to come back to it.
  • Library

    Library
I was able to finally get my Library card and I would go to the library as often as I could to check books out to keep me busy and to grow my lexicon.
  • Wattpad

    Wattpad
During middle school, this app was very popular among people who liked to read and write stories. Most of the stories were either fan fictions or actually had the chance to be published. I would spend hours on this which helped me reach higher levels of reading.
  • Vampire Kisses

    Vampire Kisses
This was one of the series that I was really hooked onto in middle school. It was probably one of the series that I finished fast. I was even upset about it not having more series, at one point I also did a book report on it.
  • Lord of the Flies

    Lord of the Flies
This was another really interesting book that I had to do a book story for my English class in high school. This book report had to have explanations of the characters and being able to depict the change in plot throughout the book.
  • Poetry

    Poetry
Poetry has played a big role in my life. I have done a few poems for fun on my own. My senior year I made a Poetry Anthology.
I think this was one of my favorite projects. Within the poem we chose, we needed to also tag along a picture that we thought went along with the poem and we had to explain the meaning and choosing of the poem as well as the picture.
  • College

    College
Reading in college now has different meanings to it. I feel like we weren't taught half of the things we read now in college that could've been useful for us to understand while growing up.
