    Northern Securities v US
    Supreme court ruled against Northern Securities. The Great Northern plus the Northern Pacific had formed a monopoly on the railroad companies. Which messed up the Northern Securities trust that was very important in matters of being fair.

    Upton Sinclair was an influencial aurthor of the early 20th century. He wrote this book to portay the life of immigrants. What it was mostly recognized for is for exposing the meat packing.
  • Oregon v Muller

    Oregon v Muller
    This was a big movement in womens rights. A laundry room ower violated the restrictions on working women more than two hours a day. This court case justifies both sexes being decriminated against.
  • Election of 1912

    William Taft, Theadore Roosevelt, Wooodrow Wilson, William Bryan were all candidates in the 1912 election. This was a rare four way contest. Wilson won being only the second democratic president.
  • Underwood Tariff

    This was the first big tax reduction. Tariffs went from 41 percent to 27 percent. President Woodrow Wilson was behind this act.

    This allows the people to vote for senators. It changed the procedure of how open spots were filled. The reformers called for this change by protest.

    It is the bank of the US government. It was created with the Federal Reserve Act. The great depresion is why the Federal Reserve was erected.

    The Clayton Anti-Trust Act ties in with trust bustin. It didn't pass the Senate until the 5th. It didnt pass the House until Oct. 8

    This commission was made to make sure businesses played fair. The main goal was to keep businesses competitive. They did this, mainly, by eliminating monopolies.

    This started prohibition. The 18th Amendment was mostly the start of bootleggers and moonshiners. Prohibition created more problems than it solved.

    19th Amendment
    In the 1920's people were realizing womens rights and everyone is created equal. This amendment was a hudge victory for women finally allowing them to vote. It was a big movement in "Womens Suffrage."

    The FDA was created to control or regulate the quality of food and drugs. People were starting to open their eyes and realize whats goin on. F.D.A stands for Food and Drug Administration.
