    Germinal Stage.  Fertilization to 2 Weeks
    The Germinal Stage is in the physical domain. The zygote will divide itslef and transform into a blastocyst. The blastocyst attaches to the usterus's wall and goes into begins to divide its cells methodically, After 3 days, it will consist of about 32 cells and be up to 150 cells after 1 week. As time goes on, the number of cells will grow quickly. The cells become more specialized, as well. Some form the umbilical cord and placenta, which provide oxygen & food. Image from xtimeline.com

    Embryonic Stage. 2 Weeks to 8 Weeks
    By now, the baby is called an embryo. The embryo is 3 different layers, from which every other part will form.1 layer makes up the hair skin & brin, 1 makes up the respiratory & digestive system, 1 is muscle, blood & bone.
    This stage is cognitive because significant growth of the head and brain happens in this stage. Neurons are created as fast as 100,00 per minute during the second month. By the 5th week, the nervous system starts functioning and brain waves begin to emerge.

    Fetal Stage. 8 Weeks to Birth
    The fetal stage occurs within both physical and socio-emotional domains. This stage is marked by the differentiation between major organs. Physical changes happen like the increase in length and weight. Organs begin to work and many body parts become integrated and refined.

    The socio-emotional development happens around 4 months where the fetus can kick to make mother aware of its presence, clench its fist, suck its thumb and cry.
