    They signed the Treaty of Versailles so that Germany and other Central Powers would get forced to take the blame for WWI. Germany was stripped of a lot of things such as, armies, land, and they were made to pay for a lot of damage that they caused.

    When Hitler became Chancellor of Germany he expanded the army tremendously, reintroduced, conscription, and began developing a new air force. Doing this he violated all the rules of the Treaty of Versailles.
