Post-French & Indian War: Acts of Parliament

  • Proclamation of 1763

The Proclamation of 1763 was a royal proclamation that gave the Native American's a place aside from the colonists in the Appalachian. This land was wanted by the colonists, but refused by England due to lack of troop funding.
  • Sugar Act

This act enacted a tax that was much larger on shipped goods that were non-British made. The Crown did this to produce revenue for themselves. This did not please the colonists, as it mean't they must pay more.
  • Currency Act

This act set the rule that the colonies could not create their own type of currency, and had to stick with England's currency. This restricted trade for the colonies. We see resentment from the colonists due to this.
  • Stamp Act

This act put taxes on almost all legal documents, newspapers, almanacs, game pieces, and pamphlets. Again this was due to Parliament wanting to raise money for Great Britain, and kept pushing the colonists around even more.
  • Quartering Act

  • Declaratory Act

  • Townshend Act
