  • Proclamation of 1763

Acts passed that pissed off the colonists

  • Sugar Act

This act taxed the colonists on foreign molasses and rum. The tax was sort of high and the colonists voiced their opinions, but didn't do much to catch the attention of parliament.
  • Currency Act

The Colonists had no gold or silver mines, and their British currency was running low, so the colonists tried to print their own money, but people couldn't decide on the currency's amount. When the British Parliament stepped in, instead of helping the colonists, it banned the production of paper money and this enraged the colonists more. The colonists argued that the act favored British interests over Colonial needs.
  • Stamp act

This was the first internal tax on the colonists issued from Great Britain. It taxed all paper documents. The colonists refused to pay the tax and wrote several petitions to stop the tax on these documents. Many newspapers also called on the colonists to provide resistance to the taxes.
