  • Seige of Charleston

    Seige of Charleston
    The Seige of Charleston was a key victory and the biggest lost to the Americans. Sir Clinton of the British wanted to secure Charleston which was held my the Americans. That battle was a over a long period of time, but resulted in a British win. The British suffered low casulties, while the Americans suffered heavy casualties, with many troops taken prisoner. This battle influenced colonists to turn loyal to the British.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was on April 19th, 1775. The minutemen won this battle, with the British having 293 casulaties, while the minutemen had 93. It was the first battle of the Revolutionary War. It was significant to the Americans because it showed that the Minutemen could hold off and fight the British red coats. It also initated conflict and spread propoganda about the British, showing them as terrible people. This propoganda rallied more troops to fight them.
  • Bunker (Breed's Hill)

    Bunker (Breed's Hill)
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was possibly one of the most famous battles of the Revolutionary War. The Americans occupied Bunker Hill, and the British tried to seize the Bunker. The British succeded, but suffered many casualties and injuries while the Americans didn't suffer as much. This battle established how the American soldiers could almost defeat the best army in the world. The phrase "Bunker Hill" became a war cry also. The British after the battle were much more cautious in their tactics.
  • Trenton/Princeton (The New Jersey Campaign)

    Trenton/Princeton (The New Jersey Campaign)
    George Washington and his troops crossed the frozen Deleware river to fight the British. The Battles of Trention and Princeton were both succesful attacks by General George Washington. They drove the British out of New York City, a major key city. The British didn't suffer many casualties, but these battles represented a political coup, gathering more people to join the war for indepedence, and gaining attention from other countries.
  • Fort Ticonderoga (third)

    Fort Ticonderoga (third)
    The Battle at Fort Ticonderoga happened on September 18th, 1777. American troops raided the Fort under the British rule. General Powell, the British general under rule of the fort, grew careless and didn't establish troops to defend the fort. The Americans easily took control of the posts around the fort. However, it was secure from the inside, so the Americans couldn't really enter the fort. The Americans couldn't secure a lot of material, but the raid boosted morality for the battles coming.
  • Saratoga (Bemis Heights, the second battle)

    Saratoga (Bemis Heights, the second battle)
    The Battle of Saratoga was a crucial battle for the Americans. General Burgoyne and his red coats had to surrender to the Americans. This battle convinced the French to join the British to put down the British army, before they made peace with the colonist. The battle also rallied people for independence from the British. This battle is said to be the "battle that won the war".
  • Kings Mountain

    Kings Mountain
    The Battle of Kings Mountain ended with a victory for the Patriots. The battle happened in South Carolina, where the Americans sorrounded the Loyalists while they were on Kings Mountain. The Patriots killed most of them or took them prisoner. The battle was the first of many setbacks the Britishwould have which would in the end, result as an American victory of the Revolutionary War.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown was basically the final war of the Revolutionary War, which ended in an American victory. General Cornwallis of the British backed his troops up into the dangerous place of Yorktown. They were cornered in that position. General Lincoln seized Yorktown, which resulted in the end of the war. The British help up a white hangerchief, resulting in the end of the war. Although, the treaty finally ending the war wouldn't be finalized in 2 years.
