    Me and my mom finally got to Ellis island. When we were going through the health exam, my mom didn't pass and was taken away. I still don't know what happened to her or where she went.

    I got sick of living in the crowded city and I wanted to move west where there was more land. I heard about the Pikes Peak gold rush and I wasnted to go there and get some money. I heard that some people struck it rich there and I wanted in on the action.
