In 1860 the British flag was raised in the centre of Australia. When the first white people came the Aboriginals thought they were Mamus. Stuart was the first person to put the British flag down in Central Australia.

In some areas station owners and police attack Aboriginal people and push them off their land. Some cattle drink the waterhole dry.

Aboriginal people were still fighting for their countries as the white people were attacking and pushing them off their land. The first man travelled from Adelaide to Darwin. This was the first time this had happened. More bush tucker disappeared as grazing land increased.

The first aeroplane landed in Stuart. By the end of the decade the first train ran between Adelaide and Stuart. 5 years later Dr John Flynn set up the first hospital and established the Flying Doctor Service.

The first camel trek route was made. Professor Albrecht, Martin and Hesekiel made the first trip West.

After World War ended the Federal Government decided to get more involved with the Aboriginals. At the same time Pastor Albrecht got some old army huts to use as buildings and the first church was also built.

Children had to shower and then change into their uniform before entering the classroom. Children were not allowed to speak their own languages in school. The teachers were very strict and the white people wouldn't talk to the community.

Papunya got put in the newspaper headlines again. the community took action to control their lives. The first battle became known as the Power Dispute. When the government had first set up Papunya, electricity came at no cost. 2 years later the Government said that the Aboriginal people had to pay electricity bills every three months.
