    Roosevelt offers Colombia money to build the Panama Canal
    Roosevelt offered Colombia 10 million dollars in cash and $250,000 yearly in rent to allow the united states to build a canal through Panama. It would give the U.S Permanent control over a 6 mile wide stretch of Colombian Territory. Other Colombians claimed that the rights were wrth far more than the U.S offered. Colombians Gov't. held out for more money but TR' was impatient and did not want to lose time bargaining.

    A revolt took place on November 3rd, 1903. U.S gunboats waited in the harbor to provide support for the rebels. The U.S prevented hostile Colombian troops from reaching Panama city. A Frenchman acting for Panama signed A treaty giving the U.S permanent use of control of a 10 mile wide zone across Isthmus of Panama. The U.S had also agreed to pay $10 million plus $250,000 s year in rent.

    Dr. William Gorgas nearly wipes out yellow fever
    Dr. William Gorgas, who had helped eradicate yellow fever in Havana years before by killing the mosquitos that carried it, directed sanitation efforts. With the sanitation efforts complete, Chief engineer Stevens began working on a scale never before seen Steam shovels/ Bucyrus shovel were created which made work easier and faster. By Dec, 5th Yellow fever had been eradicated on the Isthmus. In November, 1906 Roosevelt visited the canal posting at the controls of a Bucyrus shovel.

January 1914 the first unofficial ship sailed through the canal from ocean to ocean aand in August that marked it official. The Panama Canal opened on August 15, 1914. After Years of work, the Atlantic and the pacific were joined.

    Paul states that God marked out the appointed times in history and the boundaries of nations. (Acts:26-27) God is involved in setting temporal geographical parmeters around nations. Moreover, nothing suggests that God does this unilaterally or from all eternity. As humans make decisions, God responds to them in ways that delimit the length and scope of nations.
