the US takes over the canal project
In 1902 the U.S. spent 10$ million on rights to the canal project. They first had to free the panamanians from colimban rule. The battle lasted less than one day. Now the U.S. had control over all of the canal. -
The U.S. begins the canal

the revolt
A revolt happended on Nov. 3, 1903. It was the freeing of panama from colimban rule. Gun boats and ships provided support. This provided help for the panamanian people. Roosevelt had helped in panamas revolution from clumbia. -
Panama gains independance
Panama claims its independence from Colombia. The United States recognizes panama and deploys Navy ships to protect the new country's autonomy. This is herd all arround the word. The US has helped panama gain independance so that they may build a canal on there soil. -
The U.S. arrives in panama
On march 4, 1904 the us arrives in panama. President Roosevelt orders them to ASAP. His terms are " Make the dirt fly." They begin the long process of digging the canal. They have to first take out all the desiese in the country and free it first. -
gorges wipes out yellow fever
there was a big problem in panama in 1906. It was yellow fever. the us could not go on with the fever killing so many workers. the us hires gorges to stop the fever. he dose after many months later. yellow fever is spread by mosquitos. It was stopped eventually then the canal could go on. -
the canal is finished
the canal is officaly finished on Augest 15, 1914. it now oppens the pacfic to the atlantic. with the canal finished and the us controling it the world semes good. Then the war came, WW1 came shortly after the canal was finished. -
Reflection
when the us took on the project of building the panama canal in 1902, they didnt know what they were getting into. First they had to take over yellow fever and then take a long 10 years to build this canal. The verse God makes great nations and tears them down, that made me think that the french tried before and they failed then we tried and almost failed.
