Gorgas discovered that damp, dark areas were causing these diseases. Carlos Juan Finlay was one to discover that yellow fever came from a certain type of mosquito, just as Ronald Ross was to discover Malaria came from a certain mosquito. These men fgured out that these mosquitos live in swamps and forest, so those were the first to be cut.
