  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War (also called the 7 Years War) took place near the Hudson River. Although it is called the French and Indian War, the war was really between the French and the British and the Indians fought with the Frech. The war started because the Frech owned a lot of land that the British wanted control of, so they went to war about it. The British ended up winning the war and gaining a whole bunch of land.
  • Proclomation of 1763

    Proclomation of 1763
    The Proclomation of 1763 was a statement that closed off all of the land East of the Mississippi River to the colonies. This proclomation was made right after Great Britian won all of the land from the France in the French and Indain War. After hearing this, the colonists got furius because they had just fought for all of that land. The King made this statement because it would lower the cost of protecting the colonists and reduce the amount of wars.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was an act to raise money for the King. He was in major dept after the French and Indian war and he needed money to pay back his dept. So in a result he placed the Sugar Act on all of the colonists. The Sugar Act placed tax on sugar and molasis. This made the colonists very angry and they made up a motto, "no taxation without representation." This meant that the king could not place tax on the colonists without asking them first.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    After repealing the sugar act, parliment placed another act on the colonists called the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act made the colonists buy stamps on all paper products. The King was still in major debt from the French and Indian War, so he decided that taxing the colonists would be a good way to repay that dept. After this act was placed, the Sons of Liberty formed.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    After parliment repealed most of the other acts, they created a new act called the Townshend Acts. This act placed tax on glass, lead, paint, paper and tea. This act caused violent protests by colonists, which made Great Britian send more troops to the colonies. Colonists started to tar and feather tax collectors so they wouldn't have to pay the tax. This act did nothing but cause commotion in the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre wasn't really a mascre, but the colonists said it was to make the event sound more dramatic. The fight started with a colonist and British Soldier in an arguement. A crowd started forming on King Street around the colonist and Brithish Soldier and colonists started throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks at the British Soldier. More soldiers showed up and a soldier ended up firing into the crowd of colonists. In the end, 5 colonists died.
  • Boston Tea Pary

    Boston Tea Pary
    The Boston Tea Party is an action caused because of a lot of anger. Parliment repealed the Townshend Act but left the tax on tea which caused a lot of commotion from the colonists. So one day, the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Mowhawk Indians and boarded three ships in the Boston Harbor. They dumped all of the tea on the boats into the Boston Harbor but they never damaged anything else. Total they dumped 340 chests of tea in to the harbor!
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Because of the Boston Tea Party the King placed many different acts on the colonists called the Intolerable Acts. The acts were placed on the colonists because the King felt that the colonists had to pay fo all of the tea they dumped. One of the acts placed on the colonists was called the Quatering Act. This act forced the colonists to feed and house British Soldiers until the soldiers wanted to leave. These acts angered the colonists very much and caused the Comittees of Corrospndence to form.
  • Ride of Paul Revere

    Ride of Paul Revere
    The ride of Paul Revere was a very important event leading to the American Revolution. Paul Revere learned that the British troops were coming in to attack the colonists. When he learned this he rode out from Boston to warn as many towns as he could to prepare for the battle. He rode from Boston to Charlestown, Medford, Lexington, and Concord.   • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence is one of America's most important documents ever written. The Comitee of Corrospondence and Thomas Jefferson, all took part in writing the Declaration. This document was written because the colonists wanted to prove to the King that they should be and independent country and why they should not be ruled by the King. After the reading of the Declaration, some colonists went and tore down a statue of the King. This document started the Revolutionary War to Begin.
