    Bully on the Ship
    Throughout the beginning half of the journey, a bully was on board the ship. He was a sailor who terrorized seasicken people on the ship. God gave the sailor the gift of having the seasickness and later died after that event. "he would curse and swear most bitterly...to smite this young msn with s grevous disease, of which he died in s fesperste msnner" (28). "
  • A Beaming Crack

    A Beaming Crack
    During the turn of the season, fierce storms pick up their tempo. The main beam could not hold up much longer and cracked. The crew members started to panic but shortly after they found a giant iron screw. Some of the crew members jammed the screw in the wood of the beam. The iron screw supported the main beam and now the beam is sturdy again. " for the buckling of the main beam, there was a great iron screw the passengers brought out of Holland, which would raise the beam in to place" (20).

    Man Overboard
    As the shipped went on its treacherous voyage to America, they experienced some rough winds and stormy seas. One unlucky man named John Howland, was tossed overboard into the Atlantic Ocean. He grabbed onto a rope that was coming from the boat. He then used the rope to get to safety and boarded the boat once again. "Yet he hled his hold till he hauled up by the same rope to the brim of the water, and then with a boathook and other
    means got into the ship" (30).

    The Puritains on the boat were getting sick. Not an virus causing their sickness but alcohol. They drank too much alcohol and recieved alcohol posion. "...and made to drink water that the seamen might have the more beer, and one in his sickness desiring but a small can of beer" (32).
  • Theifs and Chiefs

    Theifs and Chiefs
    Once the Puritans made it to land, they started to build a settlement. The Indians stole their tools before but a broken speaking Indian came to talk to the Puritans. They told them rules would have to be applied for them and they will give them their tools back. "a certain Indian came boldly amongst them and spoke to them in broken English" (32).
