Polyphemus was a cyclops and Poseidon's son. Odysseus saw an enormous cave and wanted to know who lived there. Being his prideful self, he entered the cave and saw Polyphemus. Polyphemus ate some of his men. So Odysseus, knowing he would have to escape so he wouldn't be eaten also, came up with a witty idea. Him and some of his men widdled a long stake and put it in the fire so it would get hard and tough. Odysseus got the Cyclopes drunk and then asked his name. Odysseus replied, "Nohbdy".

Odysseus and his men stopped at the Lotus Eaters after they left the Cicones.
The Lotus was like a drug. After you've eaten it once, you won't ever want to leave. The Lotus Eaters had given Odysseus's men the Lotuses to eat, so wouldn't leave. Odysseus refused. Odysseus tied up his men and fought to get them back on the boat. -

Laestrygones are fierce cannibals. When Odysseus arrived and saw them, the Laestrygones began to throw boulders at his men and ship.
