Lise Johansen was Annemaries older sister. Lise was engaged to Peter Neilson. Unfortunately she died just about a month before her wedding. She was in the danish resistance. the nazi's found them and tried to kill all of them peter was shot in the arm and she was running when the nazi's shot her down.

Ellen, Annemarie,and Kirsti are stopped by a soldier in Copenhagen.

Ellen sleeps over at the Johansen's. Soldiers search the Johansen's house looking for the Rosens.Ellen pretends to be Lise Johansen, Annemarie's older sister who died.

Ellen's parents leave with Peter Neilson so the Nazi's won't find them.

Annemarie, Mrs. Johansen, Kirsti, and Ellen go on a trip to Annemarie's Uncle Henrik's house.

Kirsti named the kitten Thor or God of Thunder.

"great aunt birtes funeral." The funeral was fake. The coffin was hiding blankets and coats for the Rosens. Peter took them to uncle henriks boat and gave Mr. Rosen a very important package to give to Henrik. Mr. Rosen tripped and the package fell out of his pocket.

When mama came walking home after bringing the Rosens to Uncle Henrik she fell and twisted her ankle. When she was on the ground she saw the package for uncle henrik on the ground.

annemarie took the packet in a basket with cheese and bread and ran to the boat where her Uncle was. on her way 2 soldiers stopped her and they had trained dogs with them. The dogs ate the bread and ripped apart the packet. The packet had a handkerchief inside. the dogs smelt it and walked away. she ran and gave the handkerchief to her Uncle.

Uncle Henrik's handkerchief was actually a mix of cociane and dried rabbits blood. When dogs smell it it takes away their smell temporarily. If their smell is taken away they can't sniff the tracks of hidden Jews in boats.

Ellen and her parents make it to sweden with the other jews that came. They all hid in a hidden area in the bottom of the boat.

Peter was caught by the Nazi's and executed.

the war ended annemarie was 12 and Ellen was safe in Sweden.
