    First Album - Bleach
    In 1989 Nirvana established itself as part of the Seattle grunge scene, releasing its first album Bleach for the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989. The band eventually came to develop a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts, often between quiet verses and loud, heavy choruses.

    Dave Grohl
    Dave was the longest lasting drummer for the band Nirvana, up until the band ended. When Nirvana ended he soon became the founder and frontman of the rock band Foo Fighters in 1990.

    Kurt & Courtney
    Early in their courtship Cobain broke off dates and ignored Courtney’s advances because he wasn’t sure he wanted a relationship. Cobain noted, "I was determined to be a bachelor for a few months, But I knew that I liked Courtney so much right away that it was a really hard struggle to stay away from her for so many months."

    After signing to major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the first single from the band's second album Nevermind in 1991. This was also the first album to include the drummer Dave Grohl.

    The album was released on December 14, 1992 in Europe, and December 15, 1992 in the U.S. Incesticide debuted at fifty-one and eventually reached number thirty-nine on the Billboard 200.

    Nirvana's third studio album, In Utero, featured a intresting, less-mainstream sound and challenged the group's audience. The album did not match the sales figures of Nevermind, but was still a commercial success and critically acclaimed.
  • Kurt Cobain death

    Kurt Cobain death
    During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction, illness and depression. On April 5th 1994 Kurts life ended at age 27, as well as the band. He was founf 3 days after he killed himself. It is believed that his death was a suicide, but some think Courtney had something to do with it.
