The first step
Bill Bowermen had one of hs middl-distance runners become a distrubuter of Tiger footwear, became busisness partners and composed new ideas for making running shoes lighter and stronger. this was the beginning of what nike would become. -
The Name emerges
Johnson a new co-founder started making brochures and adds for catalogs and magazines. he established a mail order stystem, and opened up the first store, and came up with the name nike which will soon be sold. -

Blue Ribbon Shoes where most Nike products were sold, now needed a figure head athlete to endorse the shoes. his name was steve prefontiane. steve set records in long distance running and was the perfect athlete to make the Nike brand to be talked about. -

the company badly misculacated itself as the industry leader, and slips allowing other companys to rise up and take over. -

Nike signed Michael Jordan to Nike in 1985, which helped Nike rise up and take control of the shoe industry once again. -

A new phrase appears in nike ads; "just do it". feautureing a athlete by the name of Bo Jackson. the phrase "just do it" is feauted in nike ads still today. -
Cross trade busisness
in 1989 the cross training busisness exploded, and everyone wanted nike footwear/clothing. Nike had once again came back up on top, the first and only busisness to do that ever, thanks in part to "Bo knows" campaign. -
More athletes
in 1994 Nike sponcered many soccer teams, Nike created custom jerseys and footwear for the dozon or so teams that they had deals with.
