  • Economy Act

    Economy Act
    This act was made by FDR to reduce government expenses. FDR cut government worker's salaries and reduced payments to military veterans for non-service-connected disabilities. This was a recovery act and was part of the first deal.
  • Civil Works Administration

    Civil Works Administration
    This was an administration that hired many civilians at competitive wages in order to deal with mass unemployment. This resulted in 4 million people brought out of unemployment while constructing schools, roads, sewer lines, and jobs that allowed public schools to remain open. This was a relief effort and was part of the first deal.
  • CCC

    CCC
    The CCC built 2500 rustic camps across 47 states providing shelter for homeless people. The CCC also provided jobs for over 200,000 unemployed people in need. It was the most successful New Deal program. This was a relief program and was part of the first deal.
  • The TVA

    The TVA
    The TVA was an ambitious venture made to bring electrical power, flood control efforts, and jobs to Appalachia. By 1940, the TVA successfully constructed twenty-one electricity dams, dredged rivers to allow for boat and barge traffic, promoted soil conservation, experimented with fertilizers, drew new industries to the region, and accomplished much more. This program was a reform effort and took place in the first deal.
  • Banking Regulation

    FDR proposed a week-long bank holiday where all banks would close down to allow financial panic to subside. The president assured the American people on the radio claiming that it's safer to keep your money in a reopened bank than under your mattress. This was a relief effort and was part of the new deal.
  • The Work Progress Administration

    The Work Progress Administration
    The WPA was an emergency employment act that successfully hired over 2 million people annually for 4 years. The WPA also had workers construct the New York LA Guardia Airport, and restore the St. Louis Riverfront. The WPA also hired many writers, musicians and made sub-programs for their talents to be put to use. These include the Federal Theatre Project, the federal art project, and the federal writers' project. This was a relief project and was part of the second new deal.
  • The Wagner Act

    One of the most important pieces of labor legislation in history guaranteeing workers the right to organize unions and bargain directly with management about wages and other issues. It also prohibited employers from interfering with union activities. This was part of the second deal and was a reform effort
  • Wealth Tax Act

    Raised tax rates on annual income greater than $50,000, in part because of stories that many wealthy Americans were not paying taxes. This was an effort in recovery and was part of the second deal.
  • Social security act

    Social security act
    Legislation enacted to provide federal assistance to retired workers through tax-funded pension payments and benefit payments to the unemployed and disabled. This act was an effort of relief and was part of the second deal.
  • Rural Electrification Act

    Rural Electrification Act
    An act that provided federal loans for the installation of electrical distribution systems to serve isolated rural areas of the united states. This was a relief act and was under the second deal.
