Nelson Mandela went to a Christian school when he was a young boy. This school was run by missionaries. So we can infer that his family was Christian since he was sent to a Christina school.

When Nelson Mandela joined ANC he basically started it and help it grow which impacted the South Africans because this democratic government earned their rights. When Nelson Mandela become. President he helped South Africa regain its power to how it is today.

Apartheid was where outsiders came and took over South Africa and took all rights away from black South Africans.

Cause: people gathered together to do a peaceful protest about pass laws which are laws that say black South African have to carry passes around. Because they were protesting the police opened fired and killed over 60 people.
Effect: the news of this masucure spread around the world which meant other countries cut out all relations with South Africa. -
Mandela had been hiding for awhile from the police because they wanted to arrest him. So he disguised himself in many different ways. One day he was prentending to be a driver when he got stoped by the police and said that he was Mandela and was under arrest. The police new it was him because somebody in his work had tipped him off.

Cause: South Africa was going bankrupt because counties were pulling relations, so the offered Mandela his freedom if he spoke out against violent protests. When he gave his speech he said no.
Effect: for the first time the world could here Nelson Mandela and his objective to stop apartheid. -
After 27 years in prison Nelson Mandela was released at the age of 71. When he stepped out of prison there was a huge crowd waiting for him and chanting amandla.

This was an important thing for South Africans as well as the world all black South Africans has won there rights and this helped all other black people to have their rights. It also meant that other countries could trade with South Africa again.

Together Mandela and de Klerk came up with an agreement on the government and there laws, because of this they were jointly awarded the noble peace prize.1993

This was a big event for the whole of South Africa. Over 40 million people showed up to vote as this was the first time black South Africans were allowed to vote. Nelson Mandela won the election and was elected president
