    Anglo-Powhattan Wars- First War

    Location- A bunch of tribes in Virginia, Paspahegh capitol, Jamestown
    Reason for Conflict- The English were unable to trade with the Indians so they started to starve to death. Lord de la Warr sailed to America and was tired of waiting for a response from the Powhattan tribe for trade so he sent, roughly, 70 men to the Paspahegh capitol where they burned settlements and cornfeilds of the Powhattan. This sparked war.

    Tribes and Colonists involved- The Powhattan, colonists from Jamestown Virginia, Lord de la Warr, Pocahontas, Sir Thomas Dale
    Aliances- none
    End Result- the colonists captures Pocahontas. They concluded a peace treaty that seal a unity between the Powhattan Indians and the colonists when Pocahontas married John Rolfe. It was called the peace of Pocahontas
  • The Jamestown Massacre

    The Jamestown Massacre
    Location: English Colony of Virginia
    Conflicts:Colonists Tobacco fields were expanding into the Powhatan lands. Also John Smith sent in raid parties to demand food from Native Americans.
    Who's Involved: Virgina colonists and Powhatan tribe
    End Result: 347 colonists were killed, which was a quater of the population of Jamestown. The Powhatan's continued to attack the colonists along the James River. The Powhatans continued to burn the colonists settlements and crops.

    Anglo-Powhattan Wars- 2nd War

    Location- Virginia colony settlements, and lots of Indian tribes in Virginia
    Reason for Conflict- Cheif Opechancanough was friemdly with the colonists and gave the illusion that he was a converted Christian. Then without warning on March 22nd 1632, his tribe came with food to Jamestown looking peaceful but then suddenly attacked them with any tools they found in the colony.
    Tribes/Colonists involved- Jameston Coloinsts, The Powhattan tribe, and the Accomac and Patawomeck Indian tribes

    Alngo-Powahattan Wars- 2nd War Continued

    Aliances- The Accomac and the Patawomeck tribes with the English, providing them corn. The English attacked enemy tribes.
    End resullt- Throughout the years they kept fighting because of the massacre. They tried peace with the Powhattan cheif, but they began fighting again in the meeting. Peace was not restored till 1632.

    The Pequot War Continued

    End Results: 700 Pequots killed and hundreds sold to slavery. The pequot tribe was so destroyed it no longer continued to exist.
    The Treaty of Hartford was made to divide the fruits of the victory from the Pequots between the alliances of the English colonists and the Native Americans.

    Location: New England Colonies; Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth, Saybrook.
    Reason for Conflict: The Puritans begun to expand into the Pequots land because they needed more land for the new emmigrants from England.
    Who's Involved: The Pequot tribe and colonists of the Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth, and Saybrrok. Also Native American tribes Narragansett and Mohegan.
    Allies: English colonists formed allies with each other as well as Native American tribes Narragansett and Mohegan.

    Anglo-Powhattan Wars- 3rd war

    Location- Forts in Jamestown and Virginia Colony
    Reason for Conflict- The Powhattan tribe tried to get rid of the Virginia colony for the last time. They attacked and killed 500 colonists. There was a last efforst by the Virginia colonists to get rid of the Powhattan. They built 3 forts around their colony for protection from the tribes pf Powattan
    Tribes/ colinsts involded- Powhattan tribe, and Virginia coloinists, as well as Powhattan allies and Virginia colonists allies

    Anglo-Powhattan Wars- 3rd War Continued

    Alliances- Powhattan allies were Pamunkey, Chickahominy, and South of James. English Settlers Allies- Appomattoc, Weyanoke, and Nansemond, and two Carolina tibes: Chowanoke and Secotan.
    End Result- The cheif of the Powhattan tribe was caotured and shot by the Virginia colonists. He later died. The treaty of 1646 was made to state that the English and Indian settlements were forbidden to cross eachothers borders which the Black water and York Rivers.

    King Philip's War

    Location: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine
    Conflicts: At first they were peaceful but the colonists kept exapnding into their land. The algonquian-speaking tribes were being invaded by the colonists who were expanding their territory. The collapse of trade partnerships also led to the fighting.
    Who's Involved: New England colonists, Confederation, Mohegan, Pequot, Wampanoag, NIpmuck, Podunk, Narragansett, Nashaway.

    Allies: Wampanoag, NIpmuck, Podunk, Narragansett, Nashaway, were all allied together while the New England colonists, confederation, Mohegan, and Pequot allied together.
    End Result: Colonial victory with a total casualty of about 3,600.

    Location: North America
    Conflict: British and the French were having trouble getting along in settlements in America.Basically royalty back in Europe were fighting with eachother over ruling and the colonies that they owned in America. Later the Indians became involved in the fighting.
    Who's Involved: England, France, New France, Wabanaki Confederacy, English America, Iroquois Confederacy.

    Allies: France, New France, and Wabanaki Confederacy were allied together. England, English America, Iroquois Confederacy were allied together as well.
    End Results: Treaty of Ryswick which states peace between France and England, Spain, and United Provinces. It was also agreed that neither side would gain or lose territory or economic/political rights.

    Conflicts: French and English colonists fought over the control of the MIssissippi River with the thought that it would be a significant location. Soon the Spanish got involved as well, as well as the Indians.
    Who's Involved: France, New France, New Spain, Wabanaki Confederacy,Caughnawaga Mohawk, Choctaw, Timucua, Apalachee, Natchez, England, English America, Muscogee, Chickasaw Yamasee, Iroquois Confederacy.

    End Result: The 1713 Treaty of Utrecht was signed giving them all rights to peices of land.

    Reason for Conflict: Settlers increasingly expanded onto Tuscarora land, raided villages to take slaves, and introduced diseases.
    Who: British, Dutch, and Germans with the Tuscora Native Americans; other allied Indian tribes teamed up
    Alliances: Colonial militia of North Carolina, Colonial militia of South Carolina, Yamasee, Northern Tuscarora, Apalachee, Catawba, Cherokee AGAINST Southern Tuscarora, Pamlico, Cothechney, Coree, Mattamuskeet, and Matchepungo.

    Conflicts: The war first started with a conflict between Soanish and British armies in Georgia then when the news of war was heard the war broke out all over.
    Who's Involved: France, New France, Wabanaki Confederacy, Great Britain, British America, Iroquois Confederacy.
    Allies: France, New France, Wabanaki Cofederacy all allied together while Great Britain, British America, Iroquois Confederacy allied together.

    End Result: The war took a toll on the Northern Britsih colonies the most, Massachusetts lost about 8% of their men. The Treat of Aix-la-Chapelle was signed to end the war, though it didn't resolve any territoral issues.

    Location- Great Lakes region of North America, Illinois Country, and Ohio Country
    Reason for Conflict- After the British won the French Indian War, the Native Americans in the location stated above were unsatisfied with British regulations so the war started when they attacked a number of British forts and settlements. The intent of cheif Pontiac's tribe was to drive out settlers and their settlements.
    Who's Involved- The British AGAINST Cheif Potiac's rallied Indians such as Ojibwas,Kickapoo

    Alliances- Ottawas, Ojibwas, Potawatomis, Hurons, Miamis, Weas, Kickapoos, Mascoutens, Piankashaws, Delawares, Shawnees, Wyandots, Mingos, Seneca under Cheif Pontiac AGAINST The British
    End Result- Natives force for British policy changes, but concede to them at the same time. They also give up the Niagra Falls Portage to the British.
