    In 1915, my great-grandmother arrived at Ellis Island. She traveled for about a week before arriving in America. Soon after she arrived, she was married to a man she had only met twice. She was fifteen at the time.

    On October 28th, 1929, the stock market crashed. This was due to the fact that everyone was buying stocks. The stock prices went so high that they could only go down. This event caused a huge depression in America for several years

    My grandpa was drafted into the Air-Force in 1942. Technically, there was no Air-Force back then. It was just part of the army. After two years of service, he surprised his family by coming home on Thanksgiving Day.

    This meeting between Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt was held to discuss the condition of Europe. They decided since the war was essentially Germany's fault, they had to pay the reparations.

    Rosa Parks rode the bus to her job like most people in the 1950s. On December 1st, 1955, she happened to be sitting where African Americans could go if there weren't any caucasians present. When a caucasian man wanted her seat, she refused to move. This resulted in her getting arrested and the start of the Civil Rights Movement.

    My mom's parents got married on October 6th,1962. They were married at Assumption Grato in Detroit. A year earlier, they met eachother at a AAA office where my grandma worked as a Travel Agent.

    John F. Kennedy was shot and killed while at a parade in Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was given the option of a bullet-proof cover being put over the car, but he refused.

    The "counterculture" of America gathererd in upstate New York to see the Woodstock Music Festival. It ran for three days and famous artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and Janis Joplin were part of the many that performed there. My mom and her family unknowingly drove by the festival while on a road trip.

    Alot of people in the United States didn't feel that the Vietnam War was necessary. During this time, a lot of protests occured. At Kent State University in Ohio, four protesters were shot and killed by the National Guard.

    After 29 years, the Berlin Wall was finally taken down in November of 1989. The wall reminded everyone of the "Iron Curtain" that divided Europe.

    When I was four years old, my Aunt Lisa got married. I was so excited to be the flower girl and wear a big poofy dress.

    When I was in first grade, my parents got me a cat. I named him Muffin. Apparently, Muffin is a girl name. That's something I didn't know when I was six.
  • My Family and I Moved Into Our New House

    After a year and a half of construction, we finally moved from Harrison Township to Washington Township. The day we moved in, it was very cold and rainy. Since some of our furniture hadn't arrived yet, we ate dinner on the kitchen floor.
