My Timeline of Traditional to New Media

  • 2002: Infancy

    I was born on the 6th day of February in 2002.
  • 2004: Exposure to Educational Materials

    My Mother and my siblings used some educational charts as their references of information and guides for teaching such as alphabet, animals and etc.
    A chart is a useful way to present and display information or instructions, especially in a classroom or other educational situation. It can range in size from a large wall chart to a single piece of paper.
  • 2005: Exposure to Television

    2005: Exposure to Television
    In 2005, my Mother introduced me on Television as a needs in my learning in building up knowledge maybe because I am more of a visual learner than reading/writing.
    Television is an electronic system of transmitting transient images of fixed or moving objects together with sound over a wire or through space by apparatus that converts light and sound into electrical waves and reconverts them into visible light rays and audible sound.

    2006: Exposure to Radio
    My Mother introduced radio for entertainment and to increase my knowledge. It helps me to use my auditory senses to assess information.
    Radio is widely used mass communication medium and has a great potentiality in dissemination of information as radio signals cover almost entire population.

    2007: Exposure to Reading Materials
    When I am 5 years of age, I am capable in reading. I spent 1-2 hours per day in decoding stories such as fables, "kwentong-bayan", legends and other reading materials just like any other children.
    A book may be studied by students as the subject of a writing and analysis exercise in the form of a book report.

    2008: Exposure to Newspaper
    My mind developed and I started to read some newspapers. On that time, I have a little bit of interest in reading social issues. When I was in my neighbor's house, I used to read some.
    Newspapers can cover a wide variety of fields such as politics, business, sports and art, and often include materials such as opinion columns, weather forecasts, reviews of local services, obituaries, birth notices, crosswords, editorial cartoons, comic strips, and advice columns.

    2010: Exposure to Cellphones
    In 2010, I learned how to operate cellphones. I use cellphones to communicate and to entertain. I saw the value of having a cellphone in my everyday life.
    Mobile phones are used for a variety of purposes, such as keeping in touch with family members, for conducting business, and in order to have access to a telephone in the event of an emergency.

    2011: Exposure to Computers
    I exposed to computers in 2011. It's my favorite leisure time after class hours. In my age, I used computers as my entertainer particularly in playing games.
    Businesses and companies use a computer to do marketing and business planning, they use a computer to record customer data, they use a computer to manage goods and services etc. Computer with an internet connection is really important for businesses.

    2013: Exposure to Social Media
    I started to use Internet to have my second identity and to communicate with other people. I discovered Facebook first as my first online account, then followed by different social medias such as gmail, YouTube, Instagram and etc.
    Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.
