As the uprising in rock music became very popular many bitish bands became very popular e.g The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Some other famous artists from this period of time were Tom Jones, The Jackson Five, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton

This style was called "Disco", a famous group known for this type of genre was "KISS". All of the previous styles such as Rock, R&B, Urban and country were all still in the main industry of music but styles like rock had develpoed different typs of rock styles like punk rock, blues rock, progressive rock and many more.

People were no longer interested in the style Disco, instead they would much rather listen to Pop, Rock, Contemperey R&B, Hip Hop, electronic and Country. People wanted to be cool so the listened to what ever was popular at that time. Some famous artists from the 1980's were Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton, Wham and john trovolta just to name a few. Most of the previous styles of music from other eras were still played but had an ajusted style.

People were no longer into the jazz and blues but more into songs that i guess shared emotion in new styles of music. Nirvana, Green Day, Christina Aguiliera, JLo, Britney Spears, Destinys Child and The Backstreet Boys were just a few bands and artists very well known from this era.

The main Genres from this time are and were hip hop/ rap, rock, punk pop, emo,contemperary R&B and country.

IN todays time people and espescially teenagers like to listen to pop, rap, elctro pop, country, hip hop and electronic music. Some singers that are in the top charts right now are people like Birdy, PSY, Ke$ha, Rhianna, Katy Perry,Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber. As you can see all these artists are very different and have their own style of music. Compared to the 50's there is so much swearing nowadays.
