They started to record in record studios.The idea came from guitarist inventor and composer Les Paul. -
Cassette Tapes
Philips develops a compact stereo cassette tape and player. It became possible to record your own music off the radio on to a blank cassette tape. -
Compact Disks
They were introduced by Japan. The first CD released was Billy Joel's "52nd Street" -
Napster
Napster allowed people to easily share song files with each other. Music industries dropped because of this. It got shut down in 2001 but it gave the idea to people to download free music. -
Apple Ipod
Over the years there have been 14 different versions of the iPod. It was a portable way of listening to music. They could carry pictures too and videos. -
Itunes
Apple released an online music store to go along with the new iPod. It allowed iPod users to manage video and audio on their computer.
