  • Music in the 1850's

    There were many artists in the 1850's and the music they created was the genre of opera. Some big songs in this era are Lohengrin by Richard Wagner, Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, Faust by Charles Gounod, and many more. During the 1850's composers were also born like Charles Villiers Stanford an Irish composer and composer who was born in 1852. Unfortunately in 1856 German composer and pianist, Robert Schuman passed away.
  • Music in the 1860's

    During the 1860's opera was still in the mix, but symphony's and orchestra's were the new thing introduced to music. Songs created in this area were beautiful, heavy and light, the sounds of the instruments blended perfectly, and had amazing composers. A few of the songs created were Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Camille Saint Saens which was created in 1863, and Ein deutches Requiem by Johannes Brahms. Like always there are many deaths and births of many terrific composers.
  • Music in the 1870's

    In the 1870's the style of opera and instrumental ensembles continued. All of these pieces were classic and mesmerizing. They all had their own individuality. Some songs from the 1870's are Carmen by Georges Bizet, Die Flerdermaus by Johann Strauss, and Boris Gudonov by Modest Mussorgsky. During this century Billy Muray was born in 1877, he was a singer. There was also a creation which was the phonograph and the phonograph cylinder. They were used to record and reproduce sound.
  • Music in the 1880's

    The music in this century consists once again of opera's and instrumental ensembles like an orchestra. Some pieces are Symphony No.2 by Gustav Mahler which is known as the Resurrection Symphony, and Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss which consist of a large orchestra. These pieces and the other ones created in this century are phenomenal. In 1886 Frans Liszt published his final Hungarian Rhapsody.
  • Music in the 1890's

    During this century wonderful music was created by amazing composers. The music once again was either an opera or played by an orchestra. Although in 1897 Ragtime music became more popular in the US. A few of the pieces are Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak, this song was published by Jean Sibelius. Jean had also created a song of his own called Karella Suite, this song was written for the Viipuri Students' Association. In 1859 George W. Johnson became the first Afro American recording artist.
