Her name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu and was born in Skopje, Macedonia. She and her family was Albanian from descent. She also had an older brother and sister.

When Mother Teresa was 18 years old she left her home and went to Calutta, India to become part of the Sisters of Loretta.

On May 21, 1931, she took her final vows to become a nun.
She then became Mother Teresa. She chose the name Teresa from the Saint Therese of Lisieux. -
In 1946, Mother Teresa received a "call within a call." The call was to help and care for the poor. It was a new chapter in her life she would be devoted to until the day she died. She got inlfuenced to help the poor by seeing the poverty and slums in the cities of India.

So when Mother Teres received her "call" to help the sick and poor, she started with teaching kids in the slums and learning about medical work. Afterwards, Mother Teresa and some of her pupils came back to her and they all worked together on missionary work. Then they soon became known as Missionaries of Charity and spreaded worldwide.

On September 5, 1997, Mother Teresa died of heart failure. She will always be remebered as a saint, Her work will forever more be remembered and continue on.
