This was the first major defeat of the war for America and it came with heavy losses. 431 Americans were captured by the Britsh. Benedict Arnold led the troops.

Washington's encampment at valley forge

A camp held with George Washington, soldiers and they're families. This led to starvation, disease, and exposure. It killed over 2,500 soldiers by the end of February of 1778.
