Jan 1, 1494 Michelangelo had to flee Florence because he saw a revolution against Piero coming. Jan 1, 1495 Florence became a republic (they executed Savonarola) and Michelangelo went back home. He sculpted a marble Cupid Jan 1, 1505 Julius II, as soon as he was elected Pope, wanted to do great things and called Michelangelo to Rome to design and build his tomb Jan 1, 1506 Michelangelo was so shocked and angered that he destroyed his models, left Rome by night, and went back home to Florence Jan 1, 1508 Julius called Michelangelo to Rome to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel Jan 1, 1512 The cieling of the Sistine Chaple was finished Jan 1, 1520 He spent much of the next few years in the quarries of Carrara and Pietra Santa Jan 1, 1532 Without finishing all the figures in the Medici Chapel he left Florence for good Feb 12, 1564 He died Feburary 1564 at 89 after a few days with a fever
