    it was a conflict between Mexico and the United States. American forces invaded new mexico, northern mexico and california republic. the american navy then blockaded, over baja, california. another american army went to mexico city and captured that. then they forced mexico to agree to the cession of the northern territories. in the end they got what they wanted. this ended the conflict between them.

    a guy named wilmot, wanted to bann slavery, but didn't. he made a bill to finally and surely resolve the mexican- american war. that was 2,000,000. it pasted in the house but failed when it got to the senate.

    it was five bills that were passed in sept. of 1850, and which connected a 4 year "fight" between the slave states of the south and the free states of the north, regarding the territories from the mexican-american war. the compromise created relief among these states.

    this part of the compromise of 1850. this really worried northerns because of the "slave consirpacy", which meant that the runaway slaves had to go back to there masters.

    this was basically an underground network, built for slaves. this helped fugitive slaves escape to the north and canada. it moved hundreds of slaves each year, so this was a pretty effective way to safe slaves and let them free.

    he was the leader of the antislavery forces and supported freedom. he changed his parties so many times, it was hard to count. in 1856, a south carolina representive nearly killed sumner on the senate floor for saying slaveowners were pimps. and they didn't like that.

    this was also called the "border war." this was involving anti-slavery- free staters and the "border ruffian" elements. this took place in the kansas territory and parts of missouri.the base of this whole thing, was if kansas would enter the union as a free slave state.

    his goal was to abolish slavery in the united states. alot of people were against it. he caused the pottawatomie masscre which killed 5 men, then bleeding kansas, and the unsuccessful raid on harpers fairy.

    this delared basically, that all blacks, and or slaves would not be able to be a citizen of the united states. a guy named dred scott, was a slave, and appealed the supreme court for his freedom.
