Today on Facebook, Brenda Barton refered to President Obama as "De Fuhrer" in regards to national parks being shut down due to the government shutdown. In her statement online, she went on to say that Obama' s healthcare and stance on gun control is similar to that of Hitler. She is not the first to compare the President to Hitler and she has not retracted her statement.

A student at Hampton University, Melonna Clarke was asked to provide proof of her religion when going to get a new id picture taken. The school has a strict dress code, and students who want to wear to wear religious or cultureal headgear must go through an approval process. The approval process for Clarke to wear her hijab took five days, and the rush of support she has gotten from her classmates has been immense.

Today President Obama announced that he will be nominating Janet Yellen to head up the chair fo the Federal Reserve. She will be the first woman ever to head the Feder.al Reserve in its 100 year history. She is currently the vice chair and will begin serving as the new chair in January.

It was announced yesterday that Kris Jenner will be splitting from her husband, Bruce Jenner. Though they are ending their 22 year marriage, they claim there is no hard feelings. "We ended a marriage, but that's not the end of our friendship. I will always love him, but we are no longer a couple in that way," Kris Jenner has stated.

On Thursday, Malada Yousafzai won the European Union's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. This is awarded to individual's or organizations who have dedicated their time and lives to defending the freedom of thought. 16 year-old Malada won for her women's rights and education activism.
