Melanie taught herself how to play guitar and taught herself how to sing. -
The Voice
Melanie auditioned for the Voice with the song "Toxic" originally sung by Britney Spears. During the audition she made 3 chairs turn around to chose to be on Adam's team. She was in Junior High at the time. She lost during the Final Round.

After the show, Melanie started to work independently, writing her own song and lyrics.This is where she created the song Dollhouse as well as the album by the same name. -
A Record
She signed a record deal to Atlantic Records and announced that she would be going on tour. -

She made her hit single Mad Hatter. -
Singing Along
She made the song Pity Party. The next day you made the other songs. This time through December she wrote the following songs Alphabet Boy, Pacify her, Training Wheels, Sippy Cup, Tag you're it, Soap, and GingerBread Man. -
