  • Pilgrims found Plymouth Colony, the second permanent English settlement.

    In 1629, England's King Charles granted a group of English investors land in America for a new trading colony.
  • The American Revolution begins.

    The first shots were exchanged between colonial and British soldiers, first at Concord MA, then at Lexington MA.

  • John Adams

    In 1797 John Adams becomes the second president of the U.S. He was from Massachusetts.
  • Maine breaks away

    In 1820 Maine broke away from Massachusetts to become its own state.
  • The sixth U.S. president

    In 1825 John Quincy Adams becomes the sixth president in the U.S. He was also the son of John Adams the second president of the U.S. They were both from Massachusetts.
  • Colonists rebel with the Boston Tea Party.

    Colonists rebel with the Boston Tea Party.
    Colinists disguised as Mohawks snuck on board three British ships docked in Boston Harbor. The ships held 90,000 pounds of imported tea. The colonists dumped every last chest of it into the harbor.
  • Victory!

    In 2004 the Boston Red Sox won the World series and broke "the curse of the Bambino"(an 86-year World series dry spellbegan in 1918 and many believe that the Sox became cursed after trading Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1920).
