Mass extinctions

  • Period: 601 BCE to 65 BCE

600 million years ago-66 million years ago

  • 600 BCE

    Ediatric period

around 600 million years ago was technically the first mass extinction killing all animals from a lack of oxygen. This might have been caused by anyth8nb natural disasters, asteroids etc.
  • 443 BCE

    Ordovician

    Ordovician
443 million years ago. A huge majority of ocean life was washed out and the first plants to self survive got wiped out. A huge ice age occurs in the Southern Hemisphere creating a global cooling situation.
  • 372 BCE

    Late devonian

    Late devonian
372 million years ago. The new land has been over taken by insects and many greens. The extinction was a little befor Pangea and really only effects ocean life such as massive coral reefs, Gondwana, and euramerica. Trees in this time period would be 100 feet tall. Many wildlife got stressed with hypothermic temperatures and oxygen deprivation causing extinction
  • 252 BCE

    Permian

    Permian
252 million years ago. Just about all trees get wiped out, less then 5 percent of ocean life ends up living, and 90 percent of grass animals are completely gone. Global warming ends up taking place on the ocean floor and the animals were left not being able to breathe.
  • 201 BCE

    Triassic

    Triassic
201 million years ago. I believe an excess amount of CO2 begins to build and causes acid rain to create within the ocean killing 76 percent of all marine animals. This wiped out a few dinosaurs(not the entire species but a vast majority) such as the pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, and the ichthyosaurs
  • 66 BCE

    Cretaceous

    Cretaceous
66 million years ago. Before thousands of dinosaurs species were roaming the earth until a giant asteroid hit earth killing them all. Many believe a volcanic eruption caused this however I know it was an asteroid. Birds were really the only animals to survive.
