    In 1931 Japan's troops invaded manchuria to attack China. This waqs their attempt to take over the whole country. They were trying to gain control of all East Asia.

    Mussolini (Italy) conquers Ethiopia.
    Moussolini invaded the independent country of Ethiopia in Octobwe. Italy had a larger army and used things like warplanes and poison gas. In 1936 the emporer fled, giving the capitol to Italy.

    Neville Chamberlain and Hiter met twice to fix their problems. Neville wanted to keep the peace with appeasment. In Munich, Britain and France gave over Sutenland. They were hoping that would be enough territory for Hitler. Britain and France then let him annex Czechoslovakia withour telling their leaders.

    Franco took control of Madrid in 1939. This ended the Spanish Civil war. He ruled until Spain until his death in 1976.

    When Hitler invaded Poland it took less than a month for him and his Nazi troops to take controo of the whole ountry. First planes bombed Poland. Then artillery took over. Hitler used the technique of Blitzkrieg to surprise the enemy.
