Malala was born on July 12, 1997 in Mingora, Pakistan. They say that her father was actually very happy to be having a daughter. Her parents were proud that they could be able to have a child, regardless the gender.

Malala Yousafzai was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight for the right of every child to receive an education. When Malala won the Nobel in 2014, she donated $50,000 of the prize money to rebuild a school in Gaza. Having received the prize at the age of 17, Malala is the youngest Nobel laureate.
