  • Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand

    The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand sparked anger in Austria-Hungary towards Russia for backing Serbia.This led to Austria-Hungary declaring war as long as Germany would back them in the event that Russia and France joined as well.
  • Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia to start WWI

    With Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia for the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, World War One begins.
  • Battle of the Marne

    With the von Schlieffen underway, Germany had begun attacking France. The Battle of Marne forced France to hunker down into Trench Warfare, stopping Germany's advancement.
