    The king of England thought he could do anything he wanted. It angered the English people so they fought against him and the people won. They forced him to signa document, The Magna Carta, which put limits on his powers.This was one of the origins of limited government.

    War betweeen England and France over the Ohio River Valley. England & the colonist won the war. England gained all french land in North America east of the mississippi River. Britain wanted to gain control over the Colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Angry Colonists harassed British troops. The British opened fire, 5 colonists died.The colonists were enraged and called for the removal of thr soldiers.

    Compromise written by Henry Clay in which California entered as a free state and the people in the Mexican Cession territory voted for themselves. Slave trade ended in Washington D.C. The fugitive slave law was passed.

    Book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Which brought awareness to evils of slavery. Increased the tension between the North and South.

    Dred Scott, a slave, sued for his freedom. Which ended up in the denial of slave citizenship. Declared slaves as property.
