    There are boys that crash land on the island. They arrive as good british boys. "'We've got to have rules and obey them. After all, we're not savages. We're English, and the English are best at everything.'" They find a conch and beleive it to have leadership powers, which is the government. They soon however, are warned of a possible beastly. (pg.35) "A snake-thing. Ever so big. He saw it."

  • Fire on The Mountain

    Fire on The Mountain
    The boys realize there are no adults on the island, thinking they can do anything they want. Ralph is soon appointed cheif, to keep things in order, showing a strong sign of government power. Ralph decides that their top priority is to make fire as a signal to get off the island. Then a boy with the birthmark warns them again about the beastie. A fire soon gets

    out of control and it is believed he had passed. "That little 'un-" "him with the mark on his face, I don't see him.

    Huts on The Beach
    Jack is shown hunting and naked, a sign he was going savage a bit. After he goes back, Ralph exclaims he is disappointed with the boys because they aren't helping setting up the camp. He also blames jack for not helping because he is too obsessed with hunting. Jack is slowly deteriorating as he stays longer on the island. "They get up high. High up and in the shade, resting during the heat...?" "Paint our faces so they wouldn't see- perhaps surround them and then-..."

    Painted faces and Long Hair
    As the title suggests, the boys are becoming more feral over time, especially Jack. They are always depicted as dirty and naked. The hunters then make up a disturbing chant, "Kill the Pig. Cut his Throat. Spill his blood!" Jack starts describing how he would kill a pig with disturbing details. "we hit the pig- I fell on top-" "I cut the pig's throat.

    Ralph decided it was that time to make some rules around the island, although it was late to do so. So Ralph called for an assembly and he had told the boys the set of rules. Soon they start talking about the beast, which was really Simon in the the middle of the night. Soon Ralph, Piggy, Jack, And Simon got into a heated argument, which broke down the carefully planned meeting."Serve you right if something did get you, you useless lot of cry-babies!" This shows a sign of government weakening.

    SamnEric are putting in firewood to keep the flame going, but eric sees the beast( really a corpse), and SamnEric flee. While talking about the beast, Jack exclaims during an argument that they"Don't need the conch anymore", showing that Jack believes that they don't need government and rules anymore.

    Shadow and Tall Trees
    The boys had gotten more feral as they are depicted as naked and very dirty and have felt that were the normal conditions now. Ralph then starts to become wild himself as he started to like hunting and exclaims he wounded a pig. They play a game that goes too far and ends up hurting Robert, with Jack having a knife to his throat."The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away."

    Gift For the Darkness
    After running away from the beast, Jack and Ralph got into yet another argument, Jack ends up humiliated and leaves Ralph's group. "I'm not going to play any longer. Not with You." After leaving Ralph's group, Jack declares himself cheif of the new group of boys. They set out and hunt for pig. They kill the sow in a sexual way. "Right up her ass!" They then cut off the pig head and lend it as a gift for the beast. The seperation of Jack leads to a new tribe of savages.
  • A View to a Death

    A View to a Death
    Simon wakes up and staggers toward the group of boys.While at the party during the dance, the boys spot something they believe to be the beast. They all go up to it and throw their spears at it. They then beat it to death. What the boys are now are murders and presents them as savages as they have killed Simon. "There were no words, and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws." This shows that the boys are no longer civilized.

    The shell and the glasses
    The conch is shown to have lost color and is faded, showing the weakening of the government on the island. Jack is also shown as an ineffective, cruel cheif as he tied and beat Wilfred up for no reason. The boys are now being known as savages since they know no rule in Jack's tribe. The savages raided the camp and took Piggy's glasses. "I know They didn't come for the conch. They came for something else. Ralph- what am I going to do?".
  • Castle Rock

    After the raid, Ralph, Piggy, and SamnEric went towards Jack's camp to retreive what was rightfully theirs. Ralph and Jack get into fights and Jack orders the savages to tie the twins up. After Piggy speaks and while he was speaking, Roger hurls a boulder at Piggy and it kills him and shatters the conch, ending all government and democracy there was on the island."The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee; the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist."
  • Evil, pure savages

    Evil, pure savages
    After Ralph is wounded by Jack, the new cheif, he runs off into the woods. He learns from SamnEric, who are forced to become savages, that Jack is going to hunt and kill him. Ralph goes into the woods armed with a spear, talking to himself. While Ralph is being hunted, he stabs and wounds a few hunters"Ralph launched himself like a cat; stabbed, snarling, with the spear, and the savage doubled up." before falling in front of a soldier."Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man'
