The move to Culver Creek
Miles moves in to his new school, Culver Creek, and meets his roommate Chip Martin in his new dorm room. He wants to find out who he is (The Great Perhaps) and become a new person with a life "better" than his in Flordia. Page: 6-9 -
Pudge (Miles) Gets Thrown in lake
A group of 3 "Weekday Warriors" sneak into Pudge's dorm room in the middle of the night. The bullies then tape Pudge's limbs to his body and they then throw him in the lake. Pudge nearly downs but doesn't seem to panic. They tell him "This is what happenes when you hang with The Colonel (Chip)" Pages: 25-28 -
"Y'all smoke to enjoy it, I smoke to die"
Alaska says “Y’all smoke to enjoy it, I smoke to die” when Pudge, Colonel, Alaska and Takumi are hanging out at the lake on campus. It shows she doesn't fear death and feels as if she has nothing to live for anymore. It Also makes you question if she is feeling suicidal. Page: 44 -
They get group gets caught smoking
The "Eagle" catches Pudge, Colonel, Alaska, Takumi smoking by the lake near campus. This is pudge's fist time getting in trouble and he's afraid that his parents will be called. The Eagle tells them he will see them the next day in jury. Page: 55 -
"Triple date and a half"
Pudge, Lara, Alaska, Jake, Colonel, Sara, and Takumi go to the culver creek basketball game as a date. It`s pudges first date ever. This is when ``the beast chase after the boys after Chip`s rude remarks, and nails Pudge in the face with a basketball. Pudge throws up on his date, Lara, and needs to be driven to the hosptital. Page: 61 -

Oh lala
This was Pudge and Lara’s first kiss in the barn, and when they begin their relationship. This shows that pudge is in fact growing up, and expands on the topic of pudge trying to get over his feelings for Alaska through Lara.

Time to get funky..
Pudge and Lara take their relationship to the next level with oral sex. This is both of their first sexual experiences. Then end up having to ask Alaska what they are supposed to do so it’s a somewhat funny scene in the book. It takes place in the tv room, and in lara’s room.

Pudge and Alaska “hook up” and Alaska says "to be continued"v. This is a big part in the book because it shows how faithful they are to their partners. It’s also what pudge wanted and what he was working towards. This is also when Alaska receives a phone call, and drives out of campus angry at herself for an unknown reason.

Bye Alaska
This is when the school is told in the Culver Creek gym, that Alaska has died. She was in a car accident the night she ran out upset over a phone call. Pudge is devastated and confused, but this is something he had to get over.
