    1st Written Communication

    The first written communication was dated back to 3500 BC. This form of communication was created by Sumerians
  • 23 BCE

    1st apperance of books

    The first book made it's first appearance in Ancient Rome.
  • 1450

    Printing Press

    The Gutenberg press was a machine that printed out words to make reading more efficient.
  • 1550

    Willam Shakesphere

    A phenomenal writer that expanded the idea of literature and created entertainment within literature.
  • Reading

    At this point in history being literate was not a necessity but the wealthy were very educated and began to want read literature.
  • Expasion of Literature

    At this point in history millions of Americans were reading. Literacy is now becoming a priority at this point.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    This act made it the school's responsibility that all students made enough academic progress to be promoted to the next grade level. This left no room for teachers to suggest students repeat the same grade level.
  • Every Student Succeeds Act

    This act was created to improve the students overall academic achievement by first improving all educators professional development. (ESSA) was a replacement for the 2001 "No Child Left Behind Act"
