    The pony express was a mail system much like a relay race. Each rider traveled about 75 miles before the next rider took the mail the nest 75 miles.
  • The Telegraph

    The pon y express was put out of businees by the telegraph. Samuel B. Morse developed a code of "dots' and "dashes" to send messages.
  • Building the Transcontinental Railroad

    The Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads met in Promontory, Utah marking the completion of the second railroad to connect the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean.
